Look at all these presents!

I'm going to school in the fall. I'm already signed up to take 14 credits in EITC's Web Development program. I filled out a FAFSA (of course), and was recently informed that, for two semesters, at least, I qualify for a Pell Grant (as I expected), and also something called the Federal Work Study program. Does anyone know anything about the FWS? I went to its official web site, and from the description, it sounds like I need to be employed by the school to get the money. But the only requirement for someone to apply is that they are merely enrolled in a participating school. It's pretty confusing, and I hope it won't be a hassle to resolve.

The main thing I'm worried about, though, is this: what am I going to do with all that money!? The Pell Grant and FWS combine to give me $4,299 per semester. Tuition for a full-time student is only $943, and I can't imagine books would be any more than $500. I live with my mom, who gives me free room and board, and cooks all my meals (Well, not really. She cooks dinner, unless Sam is home. We make our own breakfast and dinner, but we still make it out of food that Mom bought. Anyway, I digress). I only live 10 minutes from the school, so gas isn't a major issue. I suppose a new computer would be useful for Web Development, but I don't really think I need one. I don't think I'd feel good using government money for wild parties, either. I suppose I could just give it all to Mom. After all, she;s the main reason I got a Pell Grant in the first place.

I sure hope some government agent doesn't stumble along my blog and decide to pull all my newfound money.

EDIT: Okay, so I just looked on the school's web site, and apparently, you apply for the FWS, they tell you how much money you'll get, and then you interview for available positions. I already have a job, but this is actually good news, because I've been looking for an excuse to quit for weeks!

Recrudescence

Ted came back! Hooray! Hoorah! Haroo! Hachoo! Mom heard him meowing, and we eventually found him stuck up a tree in the neighbor's yard, who are gone somewhere on vacation. Good thing, too, because they took they're two dogs who I don't think would be very friendly with Ted.

I was playing around with our old amplifier and bass. I put them, along with our electric guitar, in my room. I plan on learning both instruments. I can be my own band! It'll be awesome. Look out for my next hit single; I'll call my band, "Hit Single". It's a good name, trust me!

I wish I knew where ted was at all this time. Although I do have my theories....

Serendipitous Happenstance

Well, my cat Ted ran away. It's strange, though, because he was usually the one who stayed here while Nougat ran around the neighborhood. It's been a few days, so at this point I don't think he'll come back. Oh well. I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles. I've still got one cute kitty.

Awesome car story: about a month ago, my radiator fluid started leaking. Joe thought it was probably a hose that was, bad, and those are easy to replace, so I didn't worry too much. Which means that I forgot about it. So today, Mom, Sam and I decided to go get Quiznos for dinner. I volunteered to drive everyone in my car (you might see where this is going.) I've been watching to make sure my engine doesn't overheat ever since Joe warned me about what happens when you drive without radiator fluid, and right before we got to Quizno's, the temperature was just barely under the red line. Mom and I looked under the hood, and she noticed that it wasn't the hose that was leaking - the radiator itself was cracked, right where the hose was attached. So after we got our sandwiches, I drove us to Auto Zone (which is just down the street) to buy some coolant. The cashier (who I suspect may also have secretly been the owner) was apparently a fan of Bronco's, so he started talking about mine. I told him about the leak, so he came out to check it out. He said, "Yeah, you definitely need a new radiator. Unfortunately, we don't have any in stock... but you know what? I just bought a used Bronco whose engine needs replaced. It's sitting out in the parking lot. I'll sell you its radiator for $60. And I've got a mechanic hangin' around who's off duty, and he'd be more than happy to switch it out for you for $40. He could have it done for you in less than an hour"

So, we sat on the grass and ate sandwiches while they fixed my car for $100. Pretty awesome.

Peculation

So, on Thursday, my boss noticed that we had no fives or ones in the cash register. So, she gives me 6 twentys and tells me to walk across the parking lot to smith's grocery store, which has a bank in it. So I give the money to a guy there and say, "I need 20 ones, and the rest in fives." So he counts out 20 ones, then he counts out 25 fives, and I go back to QSC and put the money in the register.

BUT, tonight, I was thinking about it (don't ask me why) and I realized that 25 X 5 + 20 = 145, NOT 120! So I just stole 25 dollars from that bank! I'm a no-good, dirty rotten thief! I don't think it's entirely my fault, though. I would think that bank tellers would have better math skills than that.

Anyway, that's the most interesting thing I've done all week. I leave you with this comic strip:
